If you or a loved one suffers from a sensitive stomach, diabetes, or hypoglycemia, this Fun With GF/LG Food review shows how this cookbook may help you eliminate almost all the food related problems in a person’s life.
GF stands for gluten free and LG stands for low glycemic index, and in my Fun With GF/LG Food review, you’ll learn how to prepare food that anyone who suffers from food allergies, diabetes, IBS — or other conditions that limit what they can eat– can eat without fear and truly enjoy when they dine with you in your home.
All the recipes in this gluten free low glycemic index cookbook are marked with which ingredients may be prone to cause a reaction in someone sensitive to them, and substitutes are listed that can be used in place of these sensitive foods to make it possible to prepare the dish without having to fear that someone in the family or a guest at a party may react to the food in a bad way.

Arthritis is one of the most common chronic diseases in the world. According to Ayurveda arthritis is primarily a vata (air) disease which is due to accumulation of toxins in the joints and is known as amavata. This can be caused by poor digestion and a weakened colon, resulting in the accumulation of undigested food and the buildup of waste matter. Poor digestion allows toxins to accumulate in the body, and problems with the colon allow the toxins to reach the joints.
Symptoms : Fever Immense pain & stiffness in affected muscles in case of chronic muscular rheumatism. Pain or tenderness in a joint which is aggravated by any movement or activity, such as walking, getting up from a chair, writing, typing, holding an object, throwing a ball, turning a key. Excruciating pain and stiffness in the joints in case of chronic articular rheumatism.
The following are a few simple cures that might just help relieve you from the pain of arthritis. Try any of them to see what works for you.
Two teaspoons of lemon juice and a teaspoon of honey mixed in a cup of warm water taken twice a day is good for curing arthritis. Two teaspoons of juice from fresh leaves of bathua, drink every day on an empty stomach for 2-3 months. Half a teaspoon of turmeric powder with warm water helps cure arthritis. Taking alfalfa tea twice a day makes a good cure. Two teaspoons of apple cider vinegar and 2 teaspoons of honey dissolved in a small glass of warm water taken once or twice a day brings relief. Rub the aching joints with hot vinegar to get some relief from pain. Two parts pure olive oil and one part kerosene makes a wonderful liniment to bathe afflicted joints. Add one tablespoon cod liver oil to the juice of one orange, whip and drink before sleeping. One raw clove of garlic every day is very beneficial. This clove can be fried in ghee (clarified butter) or castor oil. Take for 2 months. Guggulu is very helpful in curing arthritis. Eat half a teaspoon twice a day after meals with warm water. Exercise the afflicted joints in a tub full of hot water. Drink carrot juice, cucumber juice, eat cooked vegetables and/or vegetable soups, and drink coconut water for a healthy body & massage your joints daily to cure arthritis. On an empty stomach eat 2-3 walnuts or some coconut. Avoid mental tensions that lead to stress. Lose weight, if necessary, to get close to your ideal weight. If you weigh less, there is less weight on your joints and less pain.

Herbal Remedies:
The use of herbs is a time-honored approach to strengthening the body and treating disease. The following have been used traditionally to treat rheumatoid arthritis:
Shallaki also known as boswellia (Boswellia serrata), comes from a tree that yields gum when its bark is peeled away. In clinical trials, promising results were observed in patients with rheumatoid arthritis, chronic colitis, Crohn’s disease. Researchers found that standardized Boswellia extract significantly reduced swelling and pain and usually reduced morning stiffness for people with rheumatoid arthritis.
Ashvagandha (Withania somniferum) is an Asian plant of the potato family. Its roots have long been used to treat “rheumatism,” high blood pressure, immune dysfunctions, erection problems and also to ease inflammation. Because of all this, it’s sometimes called the “Indian ginseng.”
Ginger (Zingiber officinale) may be among the best-studied of the four. Research suggests ginger root inhibits production of prostaglandins and leukotrienes, which are involved in pain and inflammation. In an uncontrolled 1992 Danish study, 56 patients who had either RA, OA or muscular discomfort took powdered ginger. All of those with musculoskeletal pain and three-fourths of those with OA or RA reported varying degrees of pain relief and no side effects, even among those who took the ginger for more than two years.
Herbal oils are applied to the arthritis to loosen stiff joints, restore mobility, remove pain, inflammation or swelling, nourish tissues and relieve pain. The experienced hands dipped in the pleasantly warmed oil will travel all over the body with pressure. Arthcare not only increases blood circulation but also gives a sure relief for rheumatic arthritis, spondylosis, paralysis, muscular disorder, slipped disc, asthma and tuberculosis. Brings in relief from stress, strain and tensions. It is also very good for tonning of one’s muscles and nerves. Get instant relief within minutes of application of oil.
Advice:
Epsom Salt (magnesium sulfate): Magnesium has both anti-inflammatory and anti- arthritic properties and it can be absorbed through the skin. Magnesium is one of the most important of the essential minerals in the body, and it is commonly deficient in the American diet. A New England remedy for arthritis is a hot bath of Epsom salts. The heat of the bath can increase circulation and reduce the swelling of arthritis.
Dosage and Directions: Fill a bathtub with water as hot as you can stand. Add 2 cups of Epsom salts. Bathe for thirty minutes, adding hot water as necessary to keep the temperature warm. Do this daily as often as you’d like.

Arthritis is a common condition affecting literally millions of people worldwide. For many, mainstream medical care brings relief. But are there any alternative remedies that are effective?
Firstly, a brief run-down of what arthritis actually is. The fact is that arthritis is a blanket term covering over one hundred different conditions, some common, some uncommon and some extremely rare. Arthritis means inflammation of one or more of the body’s joints, generally caused by infection, injury or just the plain wear and tear of life. It can also be a genetic condition.
The causes of arthritis are many and varied and its effects well-known. Pain, inflammation, mobility limitation and redness with swelling are all common symptoms. A strange fact is that people who show little joint damage may experience a great deal of pain, whilst others whose joints show terrible damage sometimes feel little pain, even none at all.
The most common form of arthritis are: osteoarthritis, rheumatoid arthritis and gout.
Some other types include – systemic infectious arthritis, gouty arthritis, psoratic arthritis, bursitis and juvenile rheumatoid arthritis. As stated, there are many more less common forms.
Osteoarthritis (wear-and-tear arthritis) is the most common form of all, especially in elderly people. It is associated with loss of bone tissue in the joints and can limit mobility severely.
Rheumatoid arthritis (rheumatism) is more common in women than in men and usually effects the over-40’s. It tends to attack the hands, causing swelling in the knuckles, though it can affect any other part of the body, including the lungs and eyes.
Gout is much more common in men than in women, again usually in the over-40’s. It is caused by elevated levels of uric acid in the blood that form crystals in the joints. These are attacked by the body’s immune system, thinking them invaders, and inflammation results together with pain that can be localised but severe.
Unfortunately there is as yet no cure for arthritis, especially if the bone or cartilage has become damaged or has deteriorated badly. Conventional arthritis medications help many people and they should be regarded as standard treatment for someone experiencing the onset of the condition. However, it has to be pointed out that these treatments can have severe side effects, including depression, immune system suppression, diarrhea, headaches and elevated blood pressure, intestinal bleeding, nausea and abdominal pain.
Perhaps this is the reason why more and more people – especially those who have suffered from arthritis for some time – turn to alternative forms of treatment and remedies. Conventional medicine does prove effective in the majority of cases – despite the side-effects – but for some it just simply does not give the relief they need. Alternative treatments are many and varied and, whilst little scientific research seems to have been carried out on most of these remedies the fact remains that, at least for some, they work.
Alternative treatments include (alphabetically): Acupressure, Acupuncture, Aromatherapy, Ayurveda, Bach Flower Remedy, Chiropractic, Color Therapy, Food/Diet Therapy, Herbal Medicine, Homeopathy, Hydrotherapy, Hypnosis, Juice Therapy, Massage Therapy, Nutrition Therapy, Oriental Medicine, Reflexology, Tissue Salts, Traditional Chinese Medicine and Yoga.
It is impossible to say which, if any, will work for a given individual – if indeed any will work at all for that person. Yet the fact remains that many sufferers experience relief from joint pain and other arthritic symptoms that they simply cannot find through conventional medicine and, given the nature of arthritis, any relief from pain, however small, is worth consideration.
I’m not suggesting for one minute that anyone should ignore their physician’s advice, throw away their medication and go over completely to alternative therapies. However, if you are one of the unlucky ones who find little relief from pain in taking accepted medication, or suffer unpleasant side-effects, it may be well worth considering these alternatives as a new path to pain relief and a better quality of life.

Arthritis is disease related to pain in joints and joint inflammation. Common arthritis symptoms include slow, limited motion of joints and long term joint stiffness. Inflammation of joints from arthritis includes swelling, redness, joint stiffness and warmth. Due to inflammation fluid gather within a joint and generally it happens with patients suffering from haemophilia or who have undergone anticoagulant therapy. Some types of arthritis leave effects on the skin resulting in rash or ulcers. People can see nodules under skin in rheumatoid arthritis.
There are many ways to treat arthritis. Here are given some treatments which can be helpful in relief:-
Medications: - You can use some medicines which can relieve in arthritis. These medicines can reduce pain and inflammation for short term.
Massage: - Massage can be very helpful in arthritis relief. Stroking painful muscles slightly increases the flow of blood and brings warmth in the muscles.
Take care of diet: – A healthy and nutritional diet can significantly increase the ratio of arthritis relief. An ideal weight can lower down the chances of getting arthritis worse and even assist in treatments. Extra weight leads to increase in stress on weight-carrying joints such as knees. Include more quantity of healthy and nutritional food in your diet.
Regular exercise and yoga: – Regular exercise such as cycling, walking, swimming and low impact aerobic exercises can reduce joint pain. Some stretching exercise will assist you in keeping body joints such as knees flexible. Yoga is a great arthritis relief tool and you can obtain many benefits from it.
Heat and cold: - Using hot and cold application for arthritis relief depends upon the type of arthritis problem and also on the suggestion of doctor. However, you can get temporary arthritis relief from moist heat and dry heat on body joints. You can also use ice pack wrapped in cloth on the joints as it will reduce swelling of joints.
Herbs: -Using herbal remedies may prove very beneficial for arthritis relief. Few nutritional supplements such as glucosamine are very effective in arthritis. However, the arthritis relief which you can gain from herbs is dependent completely on the purity of herbs.
Arthritis impacts your day to day life and affects your quality of living. Treatment from arthritis is necessary and should be followed depending on the nature and stage of your arthritis. With the right arthritis treatment you can control this disease effectively.

What kind of world is this where people call people fat?
okay, well i am 12and or 13, im 5′2, and im 170 lbs. i am working on my weight, but it is hard to work on my weight while still being called fat. some people didn’t even notice the 18 pounds i lost in 6th grade, so i gained them back in 7th grade. i am just saying… i don’t get why people call people fat
I really am not saying that a 400+ person is skinny, but can’t people just tell them nicely to lose weight? not to make them feel better, but to live longer. Some people who are 30+ years of age have a hard time losing weight too.Their matabolism isn’t as fast as they were as a kid. or maybe, obesity ran in your family and you were also called this so called ”fat”
Anyway, there are also some people saying that these ”fat” people are just sob stories and that fat people can’t go on diets because they don’t have controll over junk food.I personally don’t think that is true. It is verry sterotypical. There is a good possibility that that happens, but sometimes, people are fat from diseases or because of a troubled past.
For me, the reason why i am overweight is because of the people at my school. in 3rd grade, people were still 30-40 pounds. i was about 50, so they would call me this so- called fat. They would call me fat over and over again, till what i am today. which is a 5′2, 12and or 13 year old, who is 170 pounds.(and for your info, i am eating healthier, working out more, ect… to make myself healthy ( not just thin) but healthy.
And some people who are skinny, possibly eat junk food and get away with it. they problably have fast matabolisms. You never really know.Someone who is really skinny can eat what a 300 pound person would eat. I know this because the kids at my school who are skinny eat bigmacs, pizza, candies, ect…
And people who are saying that we pay for fat people is what i don’t get. i am not at an age where i understand this type of stuff, so i will not say anything about that.
But anyways, anyone know why people call these people hurtful names? i do not really get it.And any of you who are reading this, i don’t want you to feel sorry for me because i am fat.I dont want to be a sob story.I just want to make my point on why are these people so made fun of.More fat people are made fun of instead of skinny people. but some skinny people look really bad and really unattractive. So if someone says that obease people look gross, go look up amorexic/bulemic people and see how THAT is gross.
Anyway, like i said, why are these people made fun of so much?
p.s. i have juvinile arthritis(rheumatoid) so i have limited motion in my joints.
STOP KIDDING YOUR SELF and stop finding excuses _ bottom line – YOU ARE FAT – and I am not being mean – prove your self that you can loose 70ibs!!!

For rheumatoid arthritis,it is said that dairy products are the Foods to avoid.
So then what kind of drinks like Tea with cow milk can they have?
It is very difficult to avoid dairy product.
Which is the best drink can they have?
Beg to give a right answer
Lemon Tea is right substitue, Milk Tea also reduce omega 3 Oils and increases acidity which could result in inflammating pain of arthritis.
Vegetable of tumeric is anti inflammatory, turmeric tea is also very helpful in arthritis pain.
Calcium is an very important in our diet and a basic nutrient of body. Not having right quantity of calcium in the diet can make you more likely to get prone to osteoporosis. Vitamin D is needed for the body to absorb calcium and there is some evidence that arthritis, progresses faster in people who are low in it. That is why sun bath is very important and helpful.
Am founder of cure2arthritis.com with experience of 15000 patients, trust me avoid following
Avoid cold drinks, potatoes tea, white rice, fried food, cookies and coffee.
Take warm water shower.
Brown rice is an right substitute for rice.

At the age of 20, I was diagnosed with Rheumatoid Arthritis and ever since then I have gain probably 60lbs due to the fact that everyday I hurt and it mostly effects my feet and ankles, so it’s hard to sometimes walk. Is there anything out there (medication, diet pills, or exercises, ) that will help me?
Thank you!
You need to talk with your doctor about taking some medication to control your RA,this way your RA will be under control(possible remission) and also the pain will be under control as well.Well, the pain will be much more under control and it will make it more easy for you to be able to walk,clean,shower,cook,ect..I suffer from lupus (SLE) which my disease can cause RA,but I do have a degenerative aropothy in my joints which cause me soooo much pain.I suggest you talk to your doctor(specialist) and see what he/she can do for you.A very effective medication for RA is called ‘PLAQUENIL’ this works very well for RA and other auto-immune diseases.Feel better..:)

I am 20 now, and I used meth from age 14-16 heavily every day, every night consistently. I quit cold turkey with no wind down from this pattern. I am curious about the damage done to my nervous system. I have always had a healthy diet, active and musical life style. I have Rheumatoid arthritis and smoke cigarettes, I also drank beer and smoked pot during the meth abuse period. What kind of shape would my veins be in as an ex-meth using waning smoker? And is the past drug abuse the reason I am always overly aware of my surroudings (if someone turned in their bed in the same room It would sound like a drum roll to me, why)?
A summarry of what my question was that I did meth for 2 years BEEN CLEAN for 4 years having quit cold turkey, with NO relapse, and I CUT DOWN on cigarettes severley and WAS ALWAYS HEALTHY. What damage would remain to my nervous system, I’m still hyper aware of my surroundings.
Meaning I dont need to lose wieght… =)
It’s more like heart trouble, i.e. murmurs, irregular heart rhythms, aneurysm and atherosclerosis.

Diabetes is one of the main health problems not only in the country but also in the world. And it is not something that can be ignored both in financially and health wise. When left on its own, diabetes can spell a helluva of complications, from heart disease to liver problems.
It is perhaps the disease that causes the most number of complications in the body. Money wise, it is not cheap to have diabetes. In fact in studies conducted, 1/10 of the spendings of United States in Healthcare goes to Diabetes and its complications.
Because it is expensive and difficult to treat diabetes when it is already in its complications stage, patients are advised to nip the problem in the bud as soon as they can. If they can prevent diabetes from occurring with a few lifestyle changes especially in eating habits, all the better. This need for change spurned the creation of various kinds of diets that are designed to help diabetic patients and would be diabetics cope with the problem.
Although it was primarily conceptualized for people with heart problem, Atkins Diet is also being used as an alternative diet for people with diabetes. In fact, many diabetic patients have actually testified to its effectiveness. Atkins diet is primarily a low carbohydrate diet that aims to cut pounds by forbidding people under the program to eat carbohydrate-rich food.
These include rice, potatoes, bread and pasta. According to Dr. Robert Atkins, who created the diet for patients with heart problem in his clinic, the diet can also benefit diabetic patients because the decrease in caloric intake can reduce fats in the body; thereby reducing the risk for Type 2 diabetes.
The diet, however, is only effective with people who have a Type 2 diabetes or those whose diabetes is brought on by lifestyle of the person and his or her eating habits. It cannot do much for people who are already born with a problem in insulin secretion. These are the people with Type 1 diabetes. They depend solely on regular injections of insulin.
Still, there are critics that say that Atkins diet is not effective and in fact can lead to further complications. According to experts, the metabolism involved in the burning of fats instead of carbohydrates can cause problems and complications. Also, the intake of animal fat which diet does not restrict can increase cholesterol to dangerous levels; resulting in diabetes and even heart disease.
Gout is a type of rheumatoid arthritis. A lot of pain will be felt in the joints making the person less flexible.
This problem is often referred to as the “disease of kings” since it only affected members of royalty. Studies have shown this has now affected a lot of rich folk especially those who are obese.
Studies reveal that there are over 3.5 million Americans who have this problem which often occur after the age of 50. This is perhaps because of eating too much and the lack of physical activity.
People who eat a lot of beef, calamari, caviar, pork and poultry will begin to experience this problem because of the accumulation of uric acid in the bloodstream. Studies reveal this happens more often to those that are obese.
There is no known cure for doubt. In fact, there is no known cure for more than the 100 different types of arthritis. The best doctors can do is give medication that can be purchased over the counter or prescribe one if it is very severe to be able to alleviate the pain.
The most effective way to fight gout is to change one’s eating habits. This means cutting down on meat, poultry and certain sea foods and changing this with fruits, green vegetables, brown rice, cereals and bread. This is because these things contain vitamins and minerals which are needed to maintain a balance in the body.
Instead of consuming dairy products that are rich in fat, this should be replaced with those that are non fat. The individual should also drink plenty of water since this is known to ease the symptoms of gout and help the kidneys eliminate the surplus amount of uric acid in the system.
A dietitian can make a plan so the person can keep track of the food being consumed daily. It is also advisable for those who are obese to exercise to be able to lose weight since there is a high chance that someone overweight will also be diagnosed with this disease.
Both diseases can happen to anyone regardless of gender and sex. Taking the proper steps now by eating right and exercising can prevent this from happening.

I was diagnosed with RA in my early 20’s. After I had my son (23), I developed psoriasis and that began my trip into the hell of trusting your doctors (which I don’t- but I kind of do). I was and am continuously told that I will be in a wheelchair before I am 50.
Most importantly I am now 35 and I have little or no pain due to the Arthritis. I do suffer from excessive swelling in my ankles. (HUGE- I am talking Cankles!) Steriods bring the swelling down, but that is obviously not a good solution.
The problem is that no matter what I do- I can’t control it, I cannot sit, stand, or walk too much?!#$% There is no definition as to what too much- so that makes it really hard. I am not overweight by any normal standards (maybe a little ? extra)- my first Rhematologist wanted me at 130- I am 5’7” and that has not been feasible since Jr. High.
My family does have a history of psoriasis, but only myself and 1 cousin have the RA. Her problem is more psoriasis, and she has good results on the meds. The doctors have prescribed me Methotrexate, Enbrel, Nabumetone and ointments. They made me sick, or in some cases (Enbrel) violently ill.
Nothing really works. The next choice is Remicade. I don’t want to go there!!! I can’t see sitting in an office for 3 hours while they infuse me with poison to suppress my immune system is going to be any better than the last treatment. A couple of friends recommended a Gluten free diet. I don’t want to give up my protien, however between the options….
@#@#$#$ – This is terrible!
You don’t give up your protein with a gluten-free diet – you give up breads and stuff.
You know what…. I had ungodly pain a few years ago – I’m a carpenter and I had become increasingly painful as I got older. I took HANDFULS of OTC pain killer – didn’t help. Neproxin might have helped a little. It went on for years, and I’d sort of lost my faith that I’d ever walk straight again.
Then I was overweight – so somebody mentioned the Atkins diet. Well… I started that and in 3 days I could feel I was onto something really important. The pain began to go away right away. The really bad pain my feet took about 3 months. But I went from just ungodly pain to NO pain – from taking bottles of ibuprofen crap to No pills.
That was pretty darned miraculous. When I told this to a doctor I knew, she gave me "That look" where they don’t believe you and they don’t care – but I sure cared. Holy Cow. This doctor had even offered me really dangerous pills for pain once that if you took them you had to get your liver tested to see if they were killing you!!! That’s what doctors deal in – Big Poisons!
Anyway – so I am a total cheerleader for Atkins. You might get a used copy of his book off of Amazon – "New Diet Revolution" What I very probably had was a very low-level wheat gluten allergy – and of course I’d eaten wheat every day of my life for 50 years – and my body said – NO MORE! There’s also a couple other really interesting explanations as to why the Atkins might work this way on pain.
So,…you eat all the protein you want – eggs, meat, fish, chicken, cheese, nuts – and real fats like butter and cream and blue cheese dressing! – and green leafy vegetables. What you don’t eat are carbohydrates – pasta, bread, rice, beans, peas, etc.
You try for 20 grams of carbohydrate/day – that’s about one French fry – but you don’t eat the French fry – you have nice salads instead. There’s quite a list of vegetables in the book you can have.
I sure would hope it could help you! It literally saved my life.
