my dad has congestive heart failure, diabetes and a hiatal hernia. he is 80. what diet do you recommend he be on? he is now in a nursing home because he has lost weight over the past few months from not eating well?
He should take low salt and fat diet. Avoid sweet for diabetes, and for hiatus hernia yogurt will do or fat free Milk, fish is better.
See that he is not having constipation,it must require medical attention.
Better consult a dietrician she can help you out better OK, Take care of your father, as he cared for you when you were a child.

I would think low fat and low salt.
References :
At eighty, he could eat anything he wants.
What difference would it make? He already has CHF, diabetes and gastric problems.
