He should take low salt and fat diet. Avoid sweet for diabetes, and for hiatus hernia yogurt will do or fat free Milk, fish is better.
See that he is not having constipation,it must require medical attention.
Better consult a dietrician she can help you out better OK, Take care of your father, as he cared for you when you were a child.

At eighty, he could eat anything he wants. What difference would it make? He already has CHF, diabetes and gastric problems.
