I find medics’ diets tasteless and boring. I am diabetic and hypertensive and need to lose tons… well several pounds. Any ideas to help me, please?
Apart from the hypertension and diabetes I also have arthritic knees which make any exercise very painful. Walking is painful!
When I got hungry it seemed like my body did not give me the polite tap tap tap on the shoulder "uh could you get something to eat in an hour or two?" It was like a body slam "Feed me now, #@$#$%$#" I was always tired and always wanted sweets.
It sounds like a stupid faddy diet but the high protien low carb stuff straightened all that out. Drs say it can lower cholestorol and blood pressure and I know it straightens out blood sugar. Check everything you eat for carb count, start at less than 20 carbs per day and add 5 a week until you quit losing and back up a little.
My new diet is something like this, I ate a sugar free candy when I woke up because I was a little munchie. Later on I’ll eat 3-4 eggs and some sausage. If I feel like it I might make pancakes (lo-carb) instead or to go with it.
I’m rarely hungry at lunch time but if I am I get a low carb burger at hardeee’s or just take the bun off of something from somewhere else. Dinner tonight will be BBQ because it’s too hot to cook inside. I’ve got some cole slaw already made up and I’ll get some broccoli out of the garden and microwave it with some cheese sauce. Tonight me and my BF will most likely eat lo-carb chocolate peanut butter ice cream or nachos made with pork rinds.
I used to be so worn out I would cry on the way home from work. Now I think about going for a swim at the river. I’ve lost some weight, BF has lost 60 lbs. I feel so much better now that I would keep on with this way of eating even if I knew I would never lose another pound. Contact me if you need more detail and /or look up Atkins diet

I would like to recommend you something..but as you state that you lack will..Without it nothing can’t be done..

avoid fatty foods, adopt a more active way of living. i agree, diets do not taste nice (i don’t need to loose weight but i still tastes some of them, you’re right, their dull!!) but you can make your own "diet". don’t eat to much candy, try light foods (the no sugar or less fat kind), eat more fruits, you can combine these with low fat ice cream or something like that. don’t eat (to much) before going to bed.
oh, and try drinking water and things like that in stead of fizzy drinks, coz there is so much sugar in those! there are plenty of foods and drinks out there with less fat and sugar but that still tase great!!
good luck!

Why don’t you try Weight Watchers? Their diet is all about eating things in moderation rather than giving up certain food groups altogether. It encourages you to more healthily overall I think too!
They have weekly meetings which may also help you with the will power.
Good Luck!

if you cant diet..then stick to eating healthily (that’s only 10-20% fatty or sugary foods and 80% fresh , lean food grilled or steamed or boiled) you can have 2000 cals a day for a woman and 2500 for a man – but just eat healthy. To lose weight like this you can exersise. Find something you enjoy…walk…jog…get a trampet…a fitness DVD..join a gym…cycle…swim – or do them all ..

Everything must start with "will", but also stop eating, starve yourself to an understanding minimum

Many people who say they have no willpower, perhaps are not eating enough calories. try eating 6 SMALL meals a day using a wide variety of minimally processed foods..This should help regulate your blood sugars better and keep you more satisfied and more in control.
Don;t think of the huge big goal, either. just make lots of small changes here and there and you will find big changes happening.

There are only two ways to lose weight besides surgery of some kind. The first is to eat less calories (energy) than you use in the day. The second is to do more exercise (burning energy) than you intake in the day. Unfortunately both require willpower. It is the easiest thing in the world to do if you accept the science – you don’t have to eat nothing, just a little less every day than normal. It is very hard and leaves you feeling tired but after a few days you get used to it as your body adapts to the extra exercise or the less food.
With extra exercise don’t over do it-get a heart rate monitor and exercise at hr140 for 30min-1hr a day without taking in extra food. You will lose weight I’ve done it and seen many do it. Again it takes will power but it becomes easy when you see the weight dropping. Make sure you have a weighing scales and always weigh yourself straight after you wake up and don’t worry if the odd day it’s up, it happens. When dieting hard stay hydrated.

It is absolutely not about willpower…It’s a conscious decision you have to make in your life, it’s all about choices and making the right ones. You need to eat the right foods and not take in more calories/kilojoules than you can burn off in the day.
I know it’s boring but you need to eat well and exercise regularly to lose and maintain weight loss. You have to change your life and get rid of all the junk and crap you might have in your cupboard and create a no fail environment for yourself.
Take care :0)

That is complete rubbish, anyone can lose weight if they truly want to, you obviously don’t or you’d be out there excersising rather than asking other people to think of things for you!
Go for a run or a swim anything to get you burning calories.
Here are some ideas that may appeal to you:
Drink more water, or even better drink water with lemon in, it will fill you up so you don’t eat as much
Or drink diet coke as the caffiene speeds up your metabolism
Muscle burns more cals than fat so your body can do it for you while your asleep if you put in a little effort now
every time you think about eating, clean. this way you have a nice house, you burn cals cleaning AND you didn’t eat crap
Hope this helps. i believe strongly in the cruel to be kind tack with people of little will power

If you have no will power, nothing will work. It is as simple as that.
No diet and no therapy can help you, until you want it to work and to be. No one is in charge of your life, except you.
I was overweight myself, and I decided to change that. I went on a strict diet of brown rice (not just any rice, it has to be the brown one), lentils, porridge and fresh fruit and vegetables, drinking tea and water only. I lost 25 kg in two months, without any provlems, weakness or side effects. I am now much healthier, fitter and have a lot more energy. Anyone can do it, but only with will power.

Been there, done that, bought new T-shirts and I’m diabetic too.
i suggest you drink 2 glasses before and after you eat and to walk after eating (breakfast, lunch/dinner) at least 100 steps. Do not eat anything before going to your bed. Avoid the food with high fat more over the eggs. Avoid instant food and eat some green food with bitter taste, such as babaya’s leaf, pare and the like. But don’t try to eat the jackfruit because it is bad for your hyertensy.

Buddy , w/o will power , nothing moves in our lives but nayway one good way of starting a diet regime is to keep a watch on what u eat per day by starting writing in a diary ….per day .Do carry it n at night before sleeping mark in red what all you should have avoided . That would gradually make u eat a balanced diet coz the more red marks u see a page , u will thrive for a lesser one next day but the mantra is TO BE VERY HONEST TO URSELF WHILE WRITING…..n remember Nothing is Impossible. All the best

Hey there,
Right lets see what we can do to help.
First off, what you put in your mouth has much more do to with your weight than how much you exercise, unless you are working out for 2+ hours a day, which I assume you aren’t.
I suggest following these 4 steps to start with
1) The world health organisation recommends getting only 30% of your calories from fat. So go through your cupboards and throw out (donate to the food bank preferrably) anything that has more fat in it than this. The maths is easy 1 g of fat is 9 calories (kcal). Then next week when you do your shopping don’t buy anything that gets more than 30% of its calories from fat.
2) Stop drinking sugary drinks. Fizzy pop, sweetened juices…. just stop. These have way more calories in than you can hope to burn off. Drink diet versions if you must have something.
3) Drink plenty of water
4) Do some reading on nutrition to find out what your body really needs. You can start by reading my blog on the subject if you are interested:
Here are some opinions on food and diet:
