My mother who is 55 years old suffered a stroke in October last year. Since then she has improved a great deal. She doesnt have visible signs of a stroke and is able to do alot of things on her own. My mother is approximately 15 kgs over weight. I’m trying to help her with her diet. She suffered her stroke due to high blood pressure and a hole in the heart.
I am wondering if anyone could recommend foods that she should be eating, and what foods she should be avoiding.
Her motivation is pretty low and she doesn’t want to participate in anything! I need some tips on how to improve this as well.
Any ideas?
Thanks!
Is she on coumadin? If yes, there are so many things she need to avoid. Otherwise, take low salt and low/fat/cholesterol diet.
It is usual for post stroke patient to feel low, you need to help her, bring her out and arrange activity and participate WITH her. Grandchildren? they help a lot.
Your goal now is to make her happy, lose weight, and control her risk factors to prevent another stroke. God bless.
