Hey foodies I need some help Im trying every recipe site I can think of to find family favorites that are low sodium and dont use prepared soups, sauces and sodium loaded mixes. I was recently diagnosed with Congestive Heart Failure and Im on a 2000 mg sodium diet permanately. So far everything Ive made in the past rely’s on salt as its base spice and Im looking for the same flavors salt would give but with out using it. I can use all the spices I want but cant use any premade sauce that has more then 100 mg of salt in it. Sure made grocery shopping tough after I got out. And cut out TONS of old family favorites.
What ever you can give me I really appreciate Im also in the process of trying to revamp some of the recipes Ive written to be low cal, low fat and low sodium so far its not going so good..lol. Thanks all
Salt is Salt is Salt its a NO NO
I am also on 2,000 mg a day diet. If you want to use cream based soups then you are pretty muc going to have to make your own.
E-mail me and I already have a Bunch of info gathered as I have been on this low sodium diet for almst 3 years.
Basically just don’t add salt. If your potassium levels are okay you can use salt subs.
What do you mean 100 mg of sodium per serving or less for sauces. Do you mean that you are adding other salt type foods into you rmeal?
I have 500 mg for 3 meals a day and then 250 for 2 different snacks thru out the day.
Yes I do cheat on occassion, but I feel like crap the next day.
I am a salt lover from way back. When I crave salt I get one or 2 good pieces of sea salt and put them on my toungue. It is such a salt shock and it gets it out of my system.
